Beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away December 24, 2015 at the Cartwright Hospice Residence. Age 90 years. Son of the late James and Ann (Eckert) Baird II, James was born December 9, 1925 in Flint, Michigan. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He married Rita E. Welzel on February 12, 1949. She predeceased him April 1, 2011. James had been employed by Morgan Distribution for 28 years retiring in 1988. He was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
Surviving are one son, James A. Baird IV, Hemlock; three daughters, Nancy A. Baird, Saginaw; Susan (Dave) Glowacki, Freeland; Sharon (Keith) Dickinson, Plano, Texas; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Wellington (Betty) Baird, Saginaw; Thomas (Judi) Baird, Fresco, Texas; several nieces and nephews. James was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Connie Baird and son-in-law, Thomas Zak.
Private services will take place at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Rd., Saginaw, Michigan. Elder James Baird will officiate with burial in St. Andrew Cemetery. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the Cartwright Hospice Residence or Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
