He was born December 12, 1929 in Rowan County, a son of the late A.F. Walter, Sr. and Mary Sloop Walter.
He was preceded in death by a son, Derle Walter, a granddaughter, Tanya London, brothers, Lee, Monroe, James, Bobby and a sister, Eva Adams.
A.F. retired from Cannon Mills where he worked at the Plant 4 Machine Shop. He was a member of Unity United Methodist Church.
A.F. enjoyed farming, especially raising beef cows. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. A.F. loved getting together with family for all special occasions. He also loved his dog, Rocky.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Friday, May 11, 2018 at Whitley's Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, May 12, 2018 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Rev. Timothy Whittington and Rev. Carl Settle. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park.
A.F. is survived by his wife of 69 years, Emma Overcash Walter, sons, Tony Walter, Allie F. Walter III (Tracy), daughter, Faye Walter London (Reid), daughter-in-law, Linda Walter, grandchildren, Kathy Belk (Tony), Tisha London, Tammy Walter, Anthony Walter, Timothy Walter, great grandchild, Alexiah Thompson, brother, Harry Walter, and many nieces and nephews.
