Bobby Samuel Walter Sr., 76, of Concord, went to be with his Lord Wednesday, March 27, 2013, at his residence following a period of declining health. He was born July 27, 1936, in Rowan County, a son of the late Allie Franklin Walter Sr. and Mary Sloop Walter. In early life, he was employed with Jackson Park Supply Company and later worked with Asplundh Tree. He later retired from the City of Charlotte. He was a member of Gordon Heights Baptist Church in Concord where he served as a deacon. He enjoyed woodworking. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Lee, James and Monroe Walter; and one sister, Eva Gardner. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Daisy Cox Walter, of the home; three sons, Bobby Samuel Walter Jr., David Walter and wife, Tabitha, of Concord and Robert Lee Walter, of Kannapolis; and Tara Walter, a daughter-in-law, of the home. He is also survived by two brothers, A.F. Walter Jr. and wife, Emma and Harry Walter and wife, Elaine; 12 grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren. Special friends, T&N Mfg. Company, who were like family, also survive. Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. Saturday, March 30, at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Michael Threadgill. Interment will follow in Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends this evening (Friday, March 29), from 6 to 8 p.m. at Whitley's Funeral Home. At other times they will be at the residence.
