Sarah Jane Bonnell was the daughter of George Washington Bonnell (b. c1811/12 at Loudoun County, VA, d. c1860/70) and Cava (or Caroline?) (went by Cavy) Ann Anderson (1814-1854), who married 04 Nov 1839 at Guernsey County, Ohio.

Sarah first married to James M. Tinker (c1845-1875) on 09 Oct 1868 at Jefferson County, Indiana and had four children, of whom only one is known:

1. Ida Tinker Wertz (1870-1941)

After James Tinker died, Sarah remarried to the widower Thomas W. Rominger (1843-1918) (a Civil War Veteran) on 01 Jun 1876 at Bartholomew County, Indiana. Thomas was first married to Charlotte Permelia Zeigler (1847-1874) on 10 Feb 1867 at Bartholomew County, Indiana with whom he had three known children.

Sarah and Thomas were the parents of three known children, namely:

4. Hattie Bonnell Rominger (1877-1956)
5. Lewis Thomas Rominger (1883-1956)
6. James Blaine Rominger (1884-1959)

In 1880 Thomas Rominger (a saw miller), Sarah, Lillie, Anna, Gentry and Hattie were living at Hope, Bartholomew County, Indiana. A step-daughter, Ida Tinker, was living with them (child of Sarah's first marriage). Lillie, Anna and Gentry were children of Thomas by his first wife. In 1900 Sarah said she was the mother of seven, four living.

OBIT:

Mrs. Sarah Rominger, 79, widow of Thomas Rominger, and a life-long resident of this county, passed away this morning at her home in Hartsville. Her demise was due to a complication of diseases of which she had been ill for three weeks. Funeral arrangements have not as yet been made, but it is likely services will be held Thursday.

Mrs. Rominger was prominently known in the western part of the county. She was a member of the Methodist Church and a faithful worker in the church circles.
