Rev. Robert Lee Whitehead, age 89, of Seymour left his earthly dwelling place on Friday, October 14, 2016 to receive his heavenly home prepared for him by his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Josephine Whitehead, and infant son, Steve Whitehead.
Robert pastored many churches in North Carolina, Blount, Roane, and Loudon Counties. He was a member of Miller’s Cove Primitive Baptist Church, and was retired from ALCOA Inc.
He is survived by his children, Ronald (Barbara) Faye Whitehead, Arnold (Sandy), John (Janie), Ray (Jeanne) Whitehead, and Dalphine (Don) Canady; brother, Farris (Christine) Whitehead; sisters, June (Ralph) Smith, and Lela Mae Partin; 11 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 3 step-great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and 2 step-great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held at 8:00 PM Monday, October 17, 2016 at Miller Funeral Home, Cedar Chapel, Rev. Arnold Whitehead, and Rev. John Whitehead officiating. The interment will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, Rev. Ronald Whitehead officiating at New Providence Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Monday at Miller Funeral Home, Maryville.
