Gene Earl Taylor, 88, of Ammon, ID, returned to his loving Heavenly Father and sweetheart, on Tuesday, May 1, 2018. Gene was born in St. Anthony, ID, on June 5, 1929, to Caroline and Joseph "Art" Taylor. He was raised in St. Anthony. He married the love of his life, Clara Marie Hansen, on Nov. 16, 1948, in the Idaho Falls Temple.

He attended barber school in Salt Lake City, UT, for 6 months and then returned to St. Anthony to work in his father’s shop with 2 of his brothers and a brother-in-law. After 6 years, he decided he wanted to do something other than barbering, so he went to work at Bingham Mechanical in Idaho Falls. In 1975, he became partners with his close friend in owning the company. In 1981, he retired from Bingham Mechanical, which left him more time to serve as a Bishop and do many other things he always wanted to do.

Gene was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. His service included Scout Leader, Elders Quorom President, Bishop, and a missionary. He served a mission with his wife from 1986-1987 in the Mesa Arizona Temple Visitors Center.

Gene was active in the Mormon Pioneer Days Celebration for 7 years. He was the Race Committee Chairman for the rodeo, which included chuck wagon and chariot races. He had the opportunity of hosting Larry Chesney, a P.O.W. from the Viet Nam War, on a trip to Las Vegas where they got to meet the Osmonds and watch one of their performances. He, also, hosted Elder Neal A. Maxwell on a trip into Yellowstone National Park in a snow coach.

Gene is survived by his children, Kenneth Taylor (Karma), Vicki Tolman, (Bruce), Deborah Palmer (Elden), Janet Ricks (Ryan), all of Idaho Falls, ID, and Lori Burke (Jim), of Snohomish, WA: a brother Robert Taylor (Marcene) of Salt Lake City, UT: 27 grandchildren and 66 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, 5 brothers and 4 sisters.

The family would like to express their deepest appreciation to Onesource for the tender care they showed their father in his latter days.
