George Frederick Kiehl was the son of George E. Kiehl, Jr. and Mary Trathen. Probably to avoid confusion with his father, he was known by his middle name Frederick. Frederick was a clerk and a farm laborer but stopped working when he became very sick. He died of a "mitral insufficiency" (defective heart valve). The family was very sad when Frederick died so young.
