A Rev War Private from Oakham, MA who served in Capt. Earll's Co., Col. Danforth Keyes's Regt., from August 27, 1777, to January 4, 1778, four months and eight days, in a campaign at Providence, RI.

Name of Cemetery: Old Garcelon Burying Ground (near by the old Garcelon Ferry Site). Also called Intervale Burying Ground.

See newspaper article Garcelon Cemetery on River Road Tells Early History of Lewiston on the Garcelon Cemetery dated January 11, 1947, pages A-6 to A-7 from the Lewiston Journal. There is mention of a headstone with "Ames 1815" that would most probably be his headstone. Part of the cemetery was washed away by the Androscoggin River when it flooded the cemetery in 1819. The Garcelon cemetery is about ½ mile from the river. The old cemetery may be located in the vicinity of 320 Ferry Road, by the river.
