Eric J. Brandenburg, 47, a lifelong resident of Basehor, KS, passed away Thursday, April 26, 2018 while surrounded by his loving family at his home, after a courageous five year battle with cancer. A rosary will be prayed at 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 2 with the visitation following from 5 to 8 p.m., both at Holy Angels Catholic Church in Basehor. Funeral Mass will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, May 3 also at Holy Angels Catholic Church, with burial following at Holy Angels Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Brandenburg Children's Education Fund in care of the Alden-Harrington Funeral Home.
Eric was born on June 17, 1970 in Kansas City, Missouri. He was the oldest of 3 sons born to Joseph and Jane (Link) Brandenburg. Eric grew up in Basehor and was a 1988 graduate of Bishop Ward High School. In his youth, Eric was active in the Boy Scouts - Troop #169 achieving the honor of Eagle Scout. Eric is an alumnus of both the University of Notre Dame and the University of Kansas. During high school he met Dana Eddy, and later they were married on June 11, 1999 at the Cathedral of St. Peter in Kansas City, KS. Together they made their home in Basehor where they reared their two children, Katie and Josh. Eric worked as a Network Engineer for both H&R Block and Verizon in Kansas City.

Eric was a very active member of the Holy Angels Catholic Church, where he served on the Parish Council and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. For many years, he and Dana dedicated themselves to preparing second graders for the Sacraments of Reconciliation & Holy Communion. Eric fought cancer without complaint, never wavering from his faith and steadfast devotion to his beloved wife and children.
Survivors include his wife Dana Brandenburg and their children, Katie and Josh, all of the home; his parents, Joseph and Jane Brandenburg of Basehor; two brothers, Aaron and wife Adriane Brandenburg of Basehor and Damian Brandenburg of Stilwell, KS, and his fiancée Malinda Baehr, as well as a host of extended family and many wonderful friends.
