I uncover old stones. If you can take a photo of a cleaner stone, please do. *Thanks.*
Most cemeteries consider it the responsibility of the family to take care of the headstone, this is why perpetual care is important! Contact the office for location and ask them if the plot was originally marked, talk to them about policies on resetting markers, placing flowers, etc. This will save a lot of search time.

I am working on my family tree. I believe everyone deserves to be recorded by marked grave or Memorial. I try to help as much as possible to enter graves that have not been recorded and find requested photos... I will gladly transfer a memorial to you. I am happy to share information and collaborate on our shared relatives.

I want our loved ones to be remembered with the best accuracy and I apologize for my mistakes. Please, give me a heads up and I will fix them.
I am so excited about FindAGrave.
It is a great way to find our roots. Thank you to everyone who contributes.

I try not to recreate existing memorials, unless I find that the dates do not match. Then I assume they are not the same person.
Footnote
When I first began contributing to FindAGrave I met a few people who seemed to be "memorial hoarders"- they did not want to transfer memorials to relatives or approve anyones suggestions.
Do not be discourage by anyone else. We are ALL volunteers. Any contribution you give is doing your part. Some people transcribe, others upload memorials, others photo memorials, some do research, etc.
Also, keep in mind just because you do not know that person does not mean they are not a relative of your berieved. I have met a lot of relatives on Findagrave. I am happy to have people with knowledge of our extended family.
Important addendum:
Remember why we are all here... Because we have lost someone. Please, keep this in mind and be courteous to other people while they are mourning. Processing death takes time.
