Later in life she became increasingly self isolated and due to age and health issues, the Memphis street home fell into a state of disrepair. Margaret never married, a very private person who refused to have her photograph taken. Margaret worked as a clerk at the Curtis Publishing Company most of her life and from where she retired. Unable to care for her increasingly serious medical condition at home, she past away at the Sacred Heart Free Home for Incurable Cancer of stage IV breast cancer.
