Sarah Grace Cramer was the second of three children born to Louis A. Cramer, of Houston, Texas, and Agnes Gleason of New Orleans. Agnes died in New Orleans December 1,1906, leaving Louis with their three motherless children under the age of six.
Louis Cramer returned to Houston with his children where they lived in the household of his mother, Sarah, and his step-father, William Williams. Louis Cramer did not marry again. He was assisted in raising his children by his sisters, Clara Cramer Barry, and Hannah Cramer Grant Geiger.
Grace Cramer married Phillip Brooks Taliaferro in 1926. They had one son, John Porter Taliaferro. Grace was a devoted wife and mother.
