Mr. Bennett died Feb. 29 at the Memorial Hospital of Converse County in Douglas following an extended illness.

He was born Feb. 1, 1918, at Ceresco, Neb., to Charles and Amanda (Maynard) Bennett. His family moved to a ranch in Converse County south of Shawnee when he was 3.

Mr. Bennett attended school in Shawnee, graduating from Shawnee High School in 1937. He enlisted in the CCCs the winter of 1939-40. On Oct. 2, 1945, he married Evelyn Hublein in Douglas. To this union one son, Kenneth was born.

Mr. Bennett worked for the Judevine Creamery in Douglas for 10 years, starting in 1948, delivering products to customers on a route that spanned from Casper to Wheatland and Lusk. He enjoyed his ranching and farming operation and worked for the Wyoming Highway Department and Converse County Road and Bridge until his health forced his early retirement.

He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and will be missed dearly by his family.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Evelyn; his son Kenneth and wife Marg of Richland, Wash.; grandchildren Paul Bennett and Anita Bennett Woodall; brother Robert and wife Ruth Bennett of Oceanside, Calif.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

All of his many friends served as honorary pallbearers. A memorial to NMC Homecare, 530 Oak Street, Douglas, or Douglas Senior Citizens' Center, 340 First Street West, would be appreciated by the family.

Converse Funeral Chapel of Douglas is in charge of arrangements.
