When he died and was buried, his close friend, Napoleon Avery bought the plot behind him and made friends promise they would bury him head to head with Daniel Murphy, when his time came. Daniel's name is on one side of the stone and Napoleon Avery's name on the other side. The stone is large and heavy and is leaning at the present moment. Headstone says died April 14, 1899, AGED 72 years

The birth place of Ireland was just from a comment someone left in the virtual flowers area. I don't know that for a fact, though with his age and last name of Murphy, it makes sense.

Union Civil War veteran. Murphy served in Battery M, 2nd U.S. Artillery.
