OSAGE'S BODY ON WAY HOME

Only Member of Tribe to Fall in Action to Get Military Funeral


ARKANSAS CITY, KAN., Oct. 5 .--

The body of Charles Donovan, member of a prominent Osage Indian family and the only Osage Indian to make the supreme sacrifice in the World War, is expected to arrive here (Arkansas City) the first of the week, and will be given a full military funeral by members of the American Legion post. Donovan, who was 28 years of age, was killed in action at the battle of the Argonne, October 23, 1918. He was a quarter-blood Osage, with a full headright valued at several hundred thousand dollars. He was a half-brother of Anthony Carlton of this city and related to the Carlton family of Wichita.
