He was born on October 6, 1938 in Bozeman to Martin Douma and Anna (Terpstra) Douma. On January 11, 1963, he married Carolyn Ann Johnson in Columbus, Ohio.
He attended schools in Manhattan and was in the United States Army during the early 1960s.
Survivors include a son, Nick; two daughters, Lisa and Terri, all of Bozeman; his mother, Mrs. Anna Douma of Manhattan; two brothers, Robert R. and Marty Douma of Manhattan.
He was preceded in death by his father, Martin Douma in 1970 and a sister, Rena Douma in 1974.
Funeral services were held Saturday at the Dokken-Nelson Sunset Chapel in Bozeman. Interment was at Meadowview Cemetery in Manhattan.
Pallbearers were Dennis Kuipers, John Kuipers, Evan Andren, Cliff Carlson, Tom Miller, Alan Noack, Gary Curtis and Dave Pflaum. Officiating was Ron Johnson.
