Mrs. Erie Abernathy, 67, of Branson, formerly of Iberia, died Saturday, Jan. 3, 1970, at Skaggs Hospital in Branson. She was born Sept. 24, 1902, in Miller County near Iberia, the daughter of Henry and Martha (Morrow) Humphrey. On March 13, 1929 she was married to Charles Abernathy who survives at the home in Branson.

The Abernathys, who formerly owned and operated Iberia Cleaners for several years, had been living in Branson more than 15 years. Mr. Abernathy is a former mayor of Iberia. Mrs. Abernathy was a member of the Brays Advent Christian Church.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Ida Whitaker of St. Louis, Mrs. Katie Rowden of Iberia, and Mrs. Lillian Henson of Branson; and two brothers, Harold Humphrey of Anchorage, Alaska and Woodrow Humphrey of Phoenix, Ariz.

The death of another brother, Ray Humphrey of St. Ann, occurred the same day as that of his sisters. He and Mrs. Abernathy died only a few hours apart. His funeral services were held Tuesday morning in St. Ann.

Funeral services for Mrs. Abernathy were held at 10 a.m.
Wednesday at the Brays Advent Christian Church with the Rev. Aldon Veach officiating. Burial was in Union Cemetery under the direction of Stevinson Funeral Home of Iberia. Pallbeaers were Bert Faber, Ernie Humphrey, Lloyd
Rowden, Robert Henson, Hezzy Hinson, and Floyd Rowden.
