Harmon Paul Jenkins was the son of James J. Jenkins and Elizabeth 'Betsy' Duncan.
In 1850, he and his first wife were living in East Chickamauga, Walker, Georgia.
By 1870, he and his second wife and children were living in St. Clair County, Alabama.

He married Julia Ann Simkins on 16 April 1834 in Greene County, GA. She was born in Georgia abt 1815 and died in South Carolina abt 1849. Her father's name is unknown at present, but her mother was named Rebecca and lived with the family in Alabama. Julia's children were Cynthia M., James B., Rowan Rebecca Jenkins Bridges (1846 - 25 Jun 1923), Amanda E and Henry Powattam Jenkins.

After Julia's death, he married Leanna Jidley Lively in 1849, Greene County, Georgia, She was born 24 January 1824 in South Carolina and died 20 October 1901 in Ashville, St. Clair County, Alabama. Her father was John Thomas Lively (findagrae ID 23439783 and her mother was Elizabeth Rouche (burial unknown) Leanna had previously been married to a Barfoot W Runyans in 1840 in Georgia. She had 2 children with BW: Reuben W Runyans and Sarah Runyans. Her Jenkins children were Robert, Mary Susan, Harriet E., Sarah Jane, Laura Ellen Jenkins Nelosn (1862- 02 Aug 1930)and Thomas Newton Jenkins (September 1865).
