Adam Smeltzer was born in Sankt Alban Germany and christened Johan Adam Schmeltzer.
His parents were Johan Valentin Schmeltzer and Anna Gertraud Wentzen who migrated
to America with their children in 1750. (His parents died c1777 in Funkstown MD.)

The family settled first in Pennsylvania where Adam married Anna Margaretha Neff
1764 in Swatera, Berks Co PA before moving to MD about 1765.

Adam and Margaretha had at least 7 children:
