Dale Harold Bjerkness age 80 of Ironton died on March 16, 2018 at the Cuyuna Regional Care Center in Crosby surrounded by his entire family. He was born in Crosby on September 13, 1937 to Carl and Floryce (Andrews) Bjerkness. He married Clarice Lustig in Emily on July 30, 1955. Dale was a former employee of E.J. Longyear Drilling Co., Joy Manufacturing, Louis Smilich Construction, Del Kompelien Construction and Scorpion Snowmobiles and a member of the Scorpion International Racing Team. He was also co-owner of BJ Superette in Crosby. He retired from Trust Joist McMillan Company. He was a member of the Cascade United Methodist Church in Deerwood. Dale was a very loving husband, Father and Grandfather.
Dale is survived by his wife, Clarice; one son, Dale II “Howie” (Dawn) Bjerkness; two daughters, Roxanne (Mark) Aulie, and Kim (Greg) Waffensmith; one brother, Pedar (Kathy) Bjerkness; eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Preceding Dale in death are his parents; one granddaughter, Maria Waffensmith; four brothers, Carl Jr., Donald, Kenneth and Richard Bjerkness; six sisters, Jean Mongan, Carol Biever, Mary Jenkins, Shirley Wahlers, Phyllis Enamark, and Nancy Danke.
A memorial service will be held 3:00 pm on Sunday, April 8, 2018 at the Cascade United Methodist Church in Deerwood. Burial will be at the Lakewood Cemetery in Crosby. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the church on Sunday. Arrangements are with the Koop Funeral Home in Crosby.
