Funeral services for Joyce Lea Story, 83, of Tyler will be 2:00 pm, Wednesday, March 28, 2018 in the Calvary Assembly of God Church in Tyler with Pastor Bob Wallace officiating. Burial will be in Bascom Cemetery, Tyler. Arrangements are under direction of Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home, Overton.
Mrs. Story went to be with the Lord Friday, March 23, 2018 in a Tyler hospital. She was born May 23, 1934 in Cheyanne, Oklahoma to the late James Samuel and Laura Alberta Black Story and worked for many years as a nurses aide for Med Team Home Health. She loved playing 42, cards, bingo and canasta. She was a member of Calvary Assembly of God Church and she loved her church and she was a faithful prayer warrior. She was a hard worker and her life was her church and family.
Besides her parents, Mrs. Story was also preceded in death by her husband, Jack Anderson Davis, Sr. in 2002, a son, Jack Anderson Davis, Jr. in 2012, seven brothers and sisters, Hobert Story, George Story, Gladys Clark, Della Stephens, Faye White, James Story, and Arnold Story; two grandchildren, Jessica Davis and Jason Allen; and a great grandson, Jessie Wayne Allen.
Survivors include her children and their spouses, Joyce Kaye Ashley of Tyler, Earline and Rex Allen of Atoka, Oklahoma, Samuel Earl and Sherry Davis of Lindale, Michelle Davis of Tyler, and a daughter-in-law, Nancy Davis of Archer City; two brothers, Don Story of New Castle and Harold Story of Mansfield; fourteen grandchildren; twenty two great grandchildren; three great grandchildren; her best friend, Doris Taylor of Tyler, numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of friends and other relatives.
Pallbearers will be Jon Miller, Steve Miller, John David Frye, Jimmy Smith, Donald Story, Larry Story, and Junior Story.
