Mr. Story, 80, died Monday, November 6, 2006 at his home in Artesia, New Mexico.

Mr. Story was born December 22, 1925 in Duke, Oklahoma; the son of James Samuel Story and Alberta Aliene (Black) Story.

He served in the United States Navy during W.W. II and was a recipient of the Purple Heart.

On May 29, 1948 he was married to Dessel Riddle in Vernon, Texas. George and his wife moved to Artesia in 1989 from Texas. He was a retired minister and carpenter and a member of the Apostolic Church of Jesus Christ in Carlsbad.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Hobert Story; great-grandson Samuel Houston Morgan X; and son-in-law Travis Dickerson.

Survivors include his wife Dessel Story of the family home; daughters Sharon Williams and husband Rev. W.J. of Artesia, and Judy Dickerson of Burleson, Texas; brothers Donald Story of New Castle, Texas, James Story of Olney, Texas, Harold Story of Mansfield, Texas, and Arnold Story of Arlington, Texas; sisters Gladys Clark of Olney, Joyce Davis of Tyler, Texas, Della Stevens of Wichita Falls, Texas, and Faye White of Rotan, Texas; seven grandchildren and spouses; 20 great-grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; and 10 step-great-grandchildren.
