Paris Blackburn

Brother Paris Blackburn was born July 1, 1870, and departed this life July 9, 1955, making his stay on earth 85 years and nine days. He was married to Leona Smith who preceded him in death February 3, 1943. To this union were born 8 children of whom four preceded him in death. He joined the Primitive Baptist Church at Big Creek and was baptized by Elder Joe Thacker, Aug. 22, 1943. He was ordained as deacon of Big Creek Nov. 22, 1949. He lived a faithful member until death, always filling his seat in Church. He leaves to mourn four children, J. B. Blackburn, Roy Blackburn, and Mrs. Edna Elswick, all of Canada, Ky., and Mrs. Emma Williamson of Toler, Ky.; one sister, Mrs. Katherine (Blackburn) Maynard of Portsmouth, Ohio; four half sisters and two half brothers; 34 grandchildren, 61 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. His friends have lost a good neighbor, the church a faithful member, but we feel assured that our loss is his eternal gain.

Written by a brother in the Lord I hope.
