The deceased had been an invalid for years and was paralized from his knees down. Before his death he became entirely helpless.
He is survived by his wife and eleven children all of whom are grown and married except one, and all of them were present at his death except one daughter who lives in New Mexico and another living in Hopkins County. The deceased was the brother-in-law of John A. Gose, deceased, at one time sheriff of Lamar County.
He was an ex-confederate soldier, having enlisted in Louisiana while he was mearly a boy. The deceased was a devout member of the Baptist church and was known among those who knew he was one of the most patient men who ever lived. Besides being paralized for a number of years before his death he was troubled with bronchial touble which he contracted during the Civil War and from which he suffered over forty years. Despite his long afflection the deceased managed during his life time to make a good living and he leaves his widow in her declining years in comfortable circumstances.
