Ada Knuth
Ada G. Knuth, 78, of Casa Grande, a leader in faith-based organizations, died on July 3, 2011, at Hospice Family Care.
The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Dr. Ben Seller officiating.
Mrs. Knuth was born on Feb. 1, 1933, in Frametown, W. Va. She was a federal employee for 44 years, mostly with the Social Security Administration.
She started the first hospice chapter in Casa Grande, Rainbow Hospice in 1984, which later became RTA Hospice. She volunteered with and directed several community organizations, including Salvation Army and Seeds of Hope.
She was a faithful member of First Presbyterian Church for 34 years. She cherished her family and enjoyed playing SKIP-BO and Scrabble tournaments with her husband.
Survivors include her husband, Jean M.; four daughters, Lynette Herrington-Ekiss of Prescott, Cynthia Tittle of Temecula, Calif., Judith Cartwright of Apache Junction and Michele Schneider of Casa Grande; three stepdaughters, Wanda Pellzer, Paula Workman and Susan Katma, all of Magna, Utah; a stepson, John Knuth of Las Vegas, Nev.; a sister, Carolyn Hathaway of Nogales, Ariz.; 16 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Paula Herrington; a brother, Robert Gum; a sister, Catherine Gum McCord; and five grandchildren, Joshua Schneider, Daishon, Korie, Kimber and Devrie Workman.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Family Care in Casa Grande or Stephen Ministries at First Presbyterian Church.
Angels in Waiting After Life Care Center is in charge of arrangements.
