SPRINGFIELD (Spl.) Rites for Arvel Lee Bottom, ' 74, of Springfield Rt. 3B, will be held at 3 p.m. Friday at Beech Groove Baptist Church in Washington County. Mr. Bottom, a retired farmer, died Wednesday in Lebanon.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Florene Lanham Bottom and her daughter, Mrs. Joyce Paul of Louisville.
The body is at Carey & Son Funeral Home, Springfield.

Rites Set For Father Of Mayor SPRINGFIELD
(Spl.) The funeral of Perryville Mayor Buford Bottom's father, Arvel Lee Bottom, 74, of the Logan community of Washington County, will be held at 4 p.m. Friday at the Beech Grove Baptist Church in Washington County. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mr. Bottom, a retired farmer, died at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday at Mary Immaculate Hospital, Lebanon, after .an illness of several months. He was a member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.
Other survivors besides Mayor Bottom include Mr. Bottom's wife, Mrs. Florene Lanham Bottom; one other son, William Bottom of Battle Creek, Mich.; two daughters, Mrs. Blanche Robinson of Harrodsburg and Mrs. Joyce Paul of Louisville; two step-sons,Jake Burns of Perryville and William Groveton of New Hampshire; one step-daughter, Mrs. Lillian Bottom of Battle Creek; two half-brothers, Willie D. Bottom of Springfield and Taylor Bottom of Rose Hill and five step-sisters, Mrs. Beulah Claunch of Harrodsburg, Mrs. Clarence Click of Springfield, Mrs. Floyd Peavler of Rose Hill, Mrs. Lottie Gritton of Bloomfield and Mrs. William Seay of Miami, Fla. Other survivors include 23 grand-children 27 greatgrandchildren, eight step-grandchildren and seven step-great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted by the Rev. Marshall Eastman with the Rev. Mike Moynahan assisting. Carey & Son Funeral Home, Springfield, is fn charge where friends may call.
