Dorothy met her future husband, John Slape, a United States Navy seaman stationed at Pearl Harbor.
Mrs. Slape is survived by her daughter, Susan (Slape) Vegter, sister, Jean Mundell, brother, Paul Uemura.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Tetsuji Uemura and Matsuyo (Koga) Uemura; brother, Herbert Uemura; and sisters, Katherine Uemura and Marjorie Uemura.
