Mary lies between Christian and Barbara Mockenhaupt, and next to their son, John P. Mockenhaupt, in their family plot located at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Plattsmouth, Nebraska.

The cemetery records do not indicate Mary's date of birth or death. She does not appear as a "Mockenhaupt" on any census records including the state and county census records.

However, Joseph R. and Elizabeth (Mockenhaupt) Kelly (Elizabeth being the eldest child of Christian and Barbara) had a daughter named Mary, age 2, listed on the 1885 Nebraska State Census, however, she does not appear on any other records for the Kelly Family including the 1900 US Census. This indicates that Mary passed away in her infancy.

It is believed that Mary "Mockenhaupt" is actually the infant daughter of Joseph R. and Elizabeth (Mockenhaupt) Kelly, and was interred in the Mockenhaupt Family Plot with only her grandmother, Barbara at the time.
