Peter Breen was just a small child when the family was snowbound during the winter of 1846.
In July, 1870, Peter Breen, son of Patrick Breen, Sr., who was one of the Donner Party, was drowned in the Pajaro river, at the junction of that stream with the San Benito river, whilst swimming with some companions. He rode his horse into the deep water and it was thought the horse must have struck him in some manner. His body did not come to the surface. It was recovered by a diver. He was unmarried and only 27 years old.
