LaVarda West Hurst, age 88, returned to her Heavenly Father on January 29, 1998.
She was born April 5, 1909 in Pleasant Grove, UT, to David Waldemer and Elva Vilate Adams West. She married Clarence R. Hurst in the Salt Lake LDS Temple, May 2, 1933.
She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed life to the fullest. She served in many capacities in the church. She especially loved the outdoors including fishing with Clarence.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years; children, Larry, Glade (Judy), Marlene (Dr. Gregg Wilding), and Brent (Joyce); 19 grandchildren, and 25 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Burt West, Harvard West, Byron West, Mrs. William (Madge) Tatum, and Nell Sanders. She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Russ West; sisters, Ruby Hawkins and Thelma Boley.
Funeral services will be held Monday, February 2, 1998, at 11 a.m. at the East Millcreek 11th Ward, 2700 East Evergreen Avenue. Family and friends may call Sunday 6-8 p.m. at the Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 South Highland Drive and 9:45-10:45 prior to services at the church. Interment, Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
