James JACKSON was one of my 4th great-grandfathers. He was born in Northern Ireland and came with his parents when a lad of seven or eight years old to Westchester,Chester County, PA prior to the Revolutionary War. They soon moved to Hannastown, Westmoreland County and were among the first settlers of that locality, of which they were residents when the embryo village was destroyed by the Indians. They escaped and went to what is now Kiskiminetas township, Armstrong County, PA, where they were the first settlers in that part of the county which is north of the river.
Here James Jackson attained manhood, married, and died at the advanced age of eighty-four years. The death of his wife, Jane, occurred at a ripe old age some ten years prior to her husband's. They were blessed with seven children, five boys and two girls, five who attained manhood and womanhood: John (1792-1794), Elizabeth (1795-1804), John (1797-1853), Sarah/Sally (1800-1863), William (1804-1848), James (1806-1865) and Thompson (1810-1848).
James was buried in the Warren Cemetery, behind the Apollo Presbyterian Church. When this cemetery was paved over, his stone along with that of his wife was removed to Apollo Memorial (aka Apollo Presbyterian Church) Cemetery, Kiskiminetas Twp, Armstrong County, Pennsylvania, USA. Today it is most often referred to as the Riverview Cemetery or Old Apollo Cemetery. Most prefer to go with what the sign in front reads. It reads "Riverview Cemetery".
