Funeral services for Clarence Raymond “Buford” Gilbert, age 80 of Bon Aqua, will be held at 5 p.m. Thursday, March 1, 2018 from the chapel of Taylor Funeral Home with Brothers Neil and Jesse Pedigo officiating. He will be cremated and his ashes will be placed in a niche at Dickson County Memorial Gardens on a later date. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 28th from 4 until 8 p.m. on Thursday from 2 p.m. until service time. For those desiring, the family suggests memorials to Alzheimer’s Association.
Born in Nashville, “Buford” was the son of the late John Wesley and Myrtle Mae Berryman Gilbert. He was predeceased by a son, Cromer Wesley Gilbert and eight brothers and sisters. He loved his job as a truck driver for Ryder Trucking from which he retired with 46 years of service. His C. B. radio handle was “Short Step” and it followed him, even in retirement. “Buford” was a family-oriented man and enjoyed fishing and camping with his family. He and his wife were owners/operators of the former “Games People Play” game room. “Buford” was a member of the Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of more than 61 years, Patsy Ruth Harris Gilbert, Bon Aqua; children, Judy Brown, Dickson; Raymond Troy Gilbert, Bon Aqua; Ronald Perry Gilbert (Dena), Waverly; sister, Lois Jean Midgett, Nashville; brother, Randall Gilbert (Judy), Nashville; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandson; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
