3-28-1934 Times Record - In Memoriam - Laura Belle Bryant, daughter of Frank & Katherine Bryant, was born September 27, 1872 near Joy. She answered the great summons and departed this life March 22, 1934, having spent her entire life in and around Joy. Feb 18, 1897, she was married to A.L. Boyd. They were to housekeeping on the Boyd farm and remained there until she was called home. She was a member of the Millersburg Presbyterian church and was counted among the faithful ones.
There remains to mourn her passing besides her husband, one brother, Hull Bryant; a nephew, Harold Bryant whom she loved and idolized. Two half sisters, Mrs Evila Essley of near Viola and Mrs Emma Davison, of Larned, Kans. One half-brother, Forbes Kiddo, of Joy. Her parents, a brother, one half-brother, and three half-sisters preceded her in death.
She has many relatives and a host of admiring friends to mourn her departure. She will long be remembered in this community for her many good deeds and kindness.
Funeral services were held Saturday at 2 o'clock from the Millersburg Presbyterian church with her pastor, Rev Samuel McNeilly assisted by Rev J.G. Cardy, of Perry, officiating. "Sometime We'll Understand", "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Asleep in Jesus" were sun by the ladies quartet. Interment in Peniel cemetery.
