Earl Gene Abbet, 73, of Sand Springs, Oklahoma passed away on February 23, 2018, in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Gene was born on October 7, 1944, in Keystone, Oklahoma. He was the son of Floyd M. and Mary Jane (Fender) Abbet. Gene began his education in Keystone and then later moved with his family to the Sapulpa area where he graduated from high school. In 1962, Gene was united in marriage to Sharon Jean Lisle in Sand Springs, Oklahoma. The couple remained in the Sand Springs area where they raised their two daughters Sheila and Tonya. Gene worked at Fibercast and later as a truck driver before gaining employment at the City of Sand Springs. In 2005 after 30 years, Gene retired as Manager of Parks and Recreation.

Gene loved taking his family on road trips. When you got in with him, you never knew where he was going or where you would end up. One trip to Branson ended up with Gene, Sheila, and Tonya all bringing back a tattoo. Gene was very active with the Masonic Lodge 475 as well as a Shriner for over 20 years. Gene worked hard selling tickets for the yearly Shrine Circus. He drove the spinner car and would go to Bass Pro Shop making balloon animals while offering tickets. Gene was the director of the Sand Springs Round-Up Club for many years and during his younger years drove race cars.

He is survived by two daughters Sheila A. Almy and her husband Gerald of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, Tonya L. Gregory and her husband Jack of Sand Springs, Oklahoma; sister Carol Nigh of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, four grandchildren Michael Martin, Billy Jack Gregory, Larry Gregory, Chad Almy; eleven great grandchildren; aunt Grace Zickefoose and her husband Sam of Sapulpa, Oklahoma, aunt Marie Schaffer of Sand Springs, Oklahoma.

Preceded in death by his parents Floyd and Mary Jane Abbet, two brothers Raymond Abbet, Joe Eugene Abbet, sister Gayle Nottingham, uncle Fred Schaffer, cousins Fred Schaffer, Jr and Susan Schaffer.
