"Man Found Dead in His Home at Romulus - When Henry Bromka called at the home of Edward Baumle, 81, three miles southwest of here Tuesday afternoon, he got no response. When he returned to his father's farm and with some help, returned to the Baumle home and forced the door. They discovered the aged man dead on the floor. Coroner C. Anna Brown was called and she ordered the body removed to the Garnett Undertaking rooms where an autopsy was performed. Mr. Baumle lived alone in a small building since his house was destroyed by fire several years ago. It is not known whether he has any relatives in this country or not. He came here about four years ago." (Oct. 29, 1936, the Waterloo Observer)
