Joe Berger Funeral Held Here Dec. 29
Funeral services for Joe E. Berger, 89, of Route 1, Weimar, were held Friday afternoon, Dec. 29, from St. Michael's Catholic Church, with burial in the parish cemetery. Rev. Charles Carolan officiated.

Mr. Berger, a retired farmer, died at 3 p.m. Dec. 27 in Youens Memorial Hospital, where he had been a patient for 18 days.

Born April 14, 1889, in Fayette County, he was a son of Joseph and Theresa (Kasper) Berger. He married Emma Polk here on October 28, 1914. She preceded him in death on Sept. 20, 1975. Mr. Berger was a member of St. Michael's Church and St. Joseph Society.

He is survived by two sons, Leon J. Berger of Waco and George F. Berger of New Braunfels; two daughters, Mrs. Jerry (Lorene) Stuchlik of Houston and Mrs. John E. (Mildred) Kalinec of Beaumont; 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Emma Grohmann of Weimar.

Four sisters preceded him in death: Mrs. Millie Polk, Mrs. Ida Hartensteiner, Mrs. Theresia Stavinoha, and Marie, who died in infancy.

Pallbearers were grandsons Franklin Berger, Dennis Stuchlik, Allan Stuchlik, Alton Stuchlik, John Kalinec Jr., Brian Kalinec and Jimmy Kalinec.
