Gladys Marie Harper Steiner Bowman, 89, of Sun City Center, Florida, passed away on Thursday Feb. 15 in Temple Terrace, Florida.

Born Feb. 16, 1928 in Hamden, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Clifford Lee and Annabel Louise Oberholzer Harper. Gladys was married in 1946 to James Irvin Steiner for 32 years until his death in 1978. She was remarried to Robert Emanuel Bowman in 1989 until his death in 2012.

Gladys graduated from McArthur High School in 1946 and worked as a secretary, store clerk, farmer, insurance claims inspector, dental office manager, teacher assistant and Avon representative. She was also a 4-H and Girl Scouts' advisor, a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church.

In her free time she enjoyed baking, decorating cakes, sewing and camping with her camping club. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and in 1987 she was named the Bowling Green State University Parent of the Year.

Gladys is survived by three daughters, Mary Ann Parker, Martha Edelblute and Marcia (Daniel) Lange; six grandchildren, Thomas Weber, Sean Parker, Kristina (Jeremy) Covell, Mara (Mark) Gamble, Jessica (Jason) McRoberts and Kaitlin Lange; six great-grandchildren, Elise and Emma Covell, Adam and Braden Gamble, and Alexis and Ashton McRoberts; two stepchildren, Bruce (Betsy) Bowman and Shirley (Phil) Rodgers; five step-grandchildren and numerous step-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husbands, Gladys was preceded in death by her parents and three siblings, William, Richard and Howard Harper.

A celebration of Gladys' life will be held at 1 p.m., Feb. 26, 2018 at Boyer Funeral Home in Waverly with visitation starting an hour prior to the service. Interment at Evergreen Cemetery to follow.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, 230 East Ohio St., Suite 500, Chicago, IL 60611.
