Hattie Walford Carder Crebbs died peacefully on February 16, 2018, at the Masonic Home of Virginia in Richmond, Virginia, at the age of 101. She was preceded in death by her husband, John William "Jack" Crebbs, in 1985; by her sister, Lois Miriam Carder Collins, in 2008; and by her brother, Robert Warren Carder, in 2003.

She is survived by children Jacquelin Walford Crebbs and her husband Graham Evans of Richmond and Edgar Maury Crebbs and his wife Charlaine of Gordonsville; grandchildren Kristian Peter of Christiansburg, Anne Hoffler and her husband Edward of Richmond, Dawn Fisher and her husband Craig of Troy, Michelle Lawson and her husband Kenneth of Earlysville, and Matthew Crebbs and his wife Sheila of Gordonsville; great-grandchildren William and Benjamin Hoffler, Nathaniel and Brianna Fisher, Taylor Everard, Cheyenne and Cody Lawson, and Christian Crebbs; step-grandchildren Brian Evans and his wife Julie Tea of Richmond, and Eliot Evans and his wife Wilawan Onkham of Atlanta; and step-great-grandchildren Benjamin Evans, Abigail Evans, and Shawntay Pushard.

Hattie was born on May 11, 1916, to Edgar Warren Carder and Lois Brown Tillman Carder. She grew up on a farm in Cobham, Virginia, and attended Louisa County Schools where she met Jack Crebbs. They married in 1937 and made their home in the Green Springs district of Louisa County. They were married for 48 years until his death.

She worked as office manager and bookkeeper/accountant for the Ford dealership in Louisa, a position she held for 62 years before she retired at age 80. She was a charter member of the Ford Accountants Club. Hattie was beloved by her family, friends and neighbors, fellow members of the Order of the Eastern Star, and fellow members of Mechanicsville Baptist Church in Gordonsville where she also served for many years as church organist.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. The family would like to thank the staff of the Masonic Home of Virginia for their years of dedicated care. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Mechanicsville Baptist Church in Gordonsville.
