Education was at Spring Hill, Porter, Haskell and Union Public Schools. He later attended Rogers State and received a certification in Horse Management. He also attended numerous classes to further his knowledge of machine shop skills when he worked during his lifetime.
Life was filled with his love for his family, hard work and pride in accomplishing whatever goals he set. He loved horses, cattle and dogs. Whatever his interest, he wanted the best whether showing horses, showing his classic car, raising cattle or dogs. He instilled a strong, honest work ethic into his children.
On June2, 1961, he married Marilyn Cates. That union lasted 56 plus years and they were blessed with three children, Paula Hewitt and husband Danny, Keith Tackett and wife Kim , Valerie Scott and husband Bill. Six grandchildren, Tara Cameron and husband Tony, Bre Bennett and husband Nick, Kyle Tackett, Rachel Tackett, Blake Scott and Cody Scott and wife Ashley and 6 great-grandchildren, Emma, Eli, Elizabeth, Jackson, Rohan and Chloe. The greats were given special privileges which children and grandchildren were not allowed.
Paul gave his heart to the Lord in his teen years. He served in probably every area of the church with a deep faith which he didn't always show openly. He was a member of the Wagoner Assembly of God Church. He also had a love for music, playing the guitar and other instruments and often singing in church.
Most of his life he worked in manufacturing, but his love was in farming and ranching. In later years he became a homebuilder and was known as an "onsite builder". He literally overseen each day of construction and built each home as if it was to be his own.
Paul went to heaven to be with his parents Lester and Lottie, 4 brothers: James, Jewell, R.D. & Junior and 3 sisters: Dortha, Deloris & Louella. He leaves behind his wife, 3 children, 6 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and one brother Donnie (Cleta) Tackett of Moody, OH.
It would fill a book with Paul's many stories, accomplishments and the many friends he had during his life. He will be dearly missed.
