Petoskey News-Review, Monday, March 26, 1979:

Harold Billiau, 71

Funeral services for Harold R. Billiau, 71, Petoskey native, were held Sunday at 4 p.m. at the Stone Funeral Home in Petoskey. Rev. Terry Bennett officiated. Another service will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Davis Funeral Home in Auburn Heights and interment will follow in White Chapel Cemetery, Troy.

Mr. Billiau died March 23 at Little Traverse Division of Northern Michigan Hospitals.

He was born April 30, 1907 in Petoskey and attended Resort schools. Mr. Billiau worked as a carpenter and construction worker most of his life.

On Aug. 9, 1933 he married the former Lavina Robinson in Petoskey. The couple moved to the Pontiac area in 1951 where they have been since.

Mr. Billiau worked for the H. F. Campbell Co., in Detroit and retired in 1972.

He was a member of the Rochester Hills Baptist Church and local 998 in Berkley.

Survivors include his wife; one son, Richard of Imlay City; three daughters, Mrs. Harold (Virginia) Jones of Berkley, Mrs. Vernon (Shirley) Ruffatto of Shelbyville, Tenn., and Mrs. Ted (Carol) Fultz of Auburn Heights; 21 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Arthur and Ewald, both of Petoskey.

The family suggests anyone wishing to honor the memory of Mr. Billiau, may do so by contributing in his name to the Michigan Lung Association.
