Florence Mary Rhita Brewer Prescott Goergen, 94, passed from this earth to her heavenly home on Monday, February 12, 2018, at Samaritan Bethany Home, Rochester, MN, with her family surrounding her.
Florence was born August 24, 1923 to Isaac and Emma (Meurer) Brewer in Adams, Minnesota. She attended Sacred Heart Catholic School and graduated salutatorian from Adams High School in 1940. She worked with her father until her marriage to George H. Prescott on August 19, 1947. Together they had 7 children, George Jr. (April 6-7, 1948), Allen, Mary, Gale Louse, Helen and Joyce. George died October 22, 1983 and son, Allen in 2002.
After reconnecting with her high school sweetheart, Lawrence Goergen, they married on February 14, 1990. Florence was a wife, mother, grandmother, homemaker and postal worker. She loved to bake, cook sew, travel, shopping, playing dominoes and solitare. But, she especially loved spending time with family and friends.
Florence is survived by her husband Lawrence, Osage, IA; daughter-in-law, Francine Prescott, Boynton Beach, FL; daughter and husband, Mary and Ross Knippel, Half Moon Bay, CA; son and wife, Gale and Deb Prescott, Adams, MN; daughter, Louise Prescott, Byron, MN; daughters and husbands, Helen and Mark Wels, North Mankato, MN; Joyce and Brian Inberg, Cedar Park, TX; sister, Elizabeth Overland, Eagan, MN. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren and families, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband George; infant son George Jr.; son Allen; her parents; sisters, Genevieve, Veronica Catherine and infant brothers.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Saturday, February 17th at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Adams with Father Swaminatha Pothireddy officiating. Interment will be at the Sacred Heart Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Adams Funeral Home on Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM with a Rosary at 4:30 PM. There will also be a visitation on Saturday at the Adams Funeral Home from 9:30 to 10:30 AM. The family prefers memorials to Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Sacred Heart Catholic School in Adams.
