Born April 7, 1938 in Penn Twp., she was a daughter of the late George H. and Anna Bell (Pentz) Barto. Her husband of 52 years, the late C. Lester Shaner, preceded her in death on March 22, 2008.
Beverly graduated in 1955 from the first class in Hughesville High School. Prior to that she attended the Frantz School, Penn Twp. Beverly worked at GTE Sylvania for 12 years, was a private duty CNA, and was most recently employed as a cook at Tilburgs Personal Care Home. Beverly enjoyed bowling, word searches, Bocci Ball, family get togethers. She loved the Lord, and enjoyed attending the Friendship Baptist Church. She also made a trip to Israel, to visit the Holy Land in 2000.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Andrew and George Shaner; two sisters, Evelyn Fry, Violet Shaner; and four brothers, Kimber, Sonny, Lester, and Eugene Barto.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, February 16 at McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, 557 E. Water Street, Hughesville,with Pastor Jason King officiating. Burial will follow in Twin Hills Memorial Park. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, February 15, at the funeral home.
