Mr. Needham Chester Hamilton, 82, of Wilson Mills Road, Smithfield died Saturday at Johnston Medical Center.
He was born in Johnston Co., on October 22, 1927 to the late Needham Preston and Esther West Hamilton. Mr. Hamilton served in the US Army and retired from Johnston County School System. He was a dedicated member of the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge.
A graveside service will be held Monday 11:00 am at the Hills of the Neuse Memory Gardens, Elder Tony Parker will officiate.
Surviving are daughters, Venita Jo Jackson and Zena Elaine Rose of Smithfield, Melissa Overton of Princeton; sons, Jeffery K. Hamilton of Clayton, Robert Spencer Owens of Wilson Mills; sisters, Pearl Hines and Bessie Blan of Smithfield; special friend, Shirley Sauls; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by son, Leon Chester Hamilton, brothers, Almond, Dixon, Hunter and Bobby Hamilton, one grandchild.
The family will receive friends Sunday evening at Minshew Funeral Home from 7:00-9:00 pm.
