LYBARGER - R. George, Jr., 90, formerly of Soap Hollow, was called home May 11, 2020 at Arbutus Park Manor. Born February 25, 1930 in Hollsopple. Son of Ralph G., Sr. and Mary (Thomas) Lybarger. Preceded in death by parents, wife of 69 years Dorothy M. (Valentine) Lybarger on February 2, 2018, daughter-in-law Diane (Dello) Lybarger, brother David and sisters Althea, Dorothy, Anna Ruth and Esther. Survived by children Pam Lybarger of Johnstown, Mary Ellen married to Jeff Hawkins, Jeff and Cindy married to Evan Bill Barr, all of Hollsopple; grandchildren Zachary Hawkins (Amy), Heather Rigby (Kenneth), Holly Huffman (David), Monica Hawkins, Jeremy Gates (Cassandra), Nathan Barr (Brittany), Nichele Barr and Logan Barr; great-grandchildren Kale, Shane, Keller, Casey, Marley, Tristen, Conner, Clayton, Jacob, Althea, Alexis, Damien and Abbey; sisters-in-law Phyllis Gregory, Johnstown and Sondra Lybarger, Tennessee. A 1948 graduate of Conemaugh Township High School. Member of Tire Hill Church of the Brethren where he served as Deacon since September 20, 1964. He was also a Sunday School teacher, youth advisor and sang in the choir. George was a member of Connumach Lions Club. Retired self-employed Milk Hauler for over 57 years. He was also a part time farmer and school bus driver. Very active in Boy Scouts of America where, along with his son Jeff, earned the Silver Beaver Award which is the highest award given for scout leaders. Retired in 2012 from Conemaugh Township Planning Commission after serving for 22 years. The most important things to George were serving God and putting his family above everything else. The family would like to thank the staff of Arbutus Park Manor for the kindness and care given to George. The staff at Arbutus not only took care of George, they genuinely cared about him. Thank you and God bless each of you. Due to current public health concerns, a celebration of life service will be held at a later date. Inurnment Maple Spring Cemetery, near Jerome.
