Mrs. John Dykstra Passes

Mrs. John Dykstra, wife of long-time Hull merchant, passes way at her home Monday night, Feb. 14, after an illness of several weeks.

Mrs. Dykstra, nee Annie Newenhof, was born August 1, 1877, at So. Holland, Ill. On December 10, 1894 she was united in marriage to John Dykstra. Three years ago they celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary.

Nine children were born to them who, with the husband and father, mourn her passing, as follows – Mrs. W.T. Van Wyk of Sheldon. Mrs. W. Vande Garde, Sibley, Helen Dykstra, Mrs. Dick De Jonge, Hull; Mrs. R. Van Peursem, Rochester, N.Y.; Mrs. E. De Jong, Waterloo; Laurence and Angeline, at home. Fourteen grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Wm. Schouten, of Rock Valley, and one brother, John Newenhof of Yakima, Wash., who she visited last fall, also survive.

Funeral services were held Friday afternoon in the First Reformed church, conducted by the pastor, Rev. G.H. Douwstra. Her grandson, Arthur Van Wyk, sang "I Go To Prepare a Place for You". Pallbeares were six nephews – Frank Vander Zwaag, Jacob Dykstra, Ben Dykstra, Ben Dykstra, Hendry Dykstra and Ade Adens. Interment was at Hope Cemetery.
