She moved to Crowder with her parents in 1922. She married John Murray Banks in 1933 in Gainesville, TX. She earned a Bachelors and Masters degree at East Central University in Ada. She taught school for five years in Okmulgee and Pittsburg Counties, but the last 29 years were spent teaching in the Crowder school system. She was past Matron of Eastern Star and had received her 50 year pin in 1991. She is survived by a daughter, Mary Jane and husband Thomas Duff of Crowder; sons, Tom and wife Kathryn Banks of Ft. Smith, AR, Bob and wife Jeanetta Banks, and Bill and wife Lee Banks all of Crowder. Also sisters in law, Mabel Johnson and Ruth Giaudrone, both of McAlester.
