John Robert "Bob" Banks, 76, of Shawnee and formerly of Crowder, died Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2012, at Oklahoma Heart Hospital in Oklahoma City. He was born April 19, 1936, in Crowder to John Murray and Marie (Smith) Banks. He was a lifelong resident of Crowder until 2006 when he and his wife moved to Shawnee. He married Jeanetta "Jan" Rogers on July 10, 1958, in Breckenridge, Colo. He was a plumber, heating and air contractor. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren playing sports and computer games. He attended the Johnson Church of God. Survivors include wife Jeanetta "Jan" Banks of the home; son Ronald E. "Eddie" and wife, Liz Banks, of Norman; daughter-in-law, Cindi Banks, of Shawnee; eight grandchildren, Brad and wife, Lene Banks, of Tulsa, Brandon and wife, Savanna Banks, of Sand Springs, Jeffrey and wife, Tiffany Banks, of Oklahoma City, Daniel Banks, of Shawnee, Caleb Banks, of Shawnee, Emily Banks, of Norman, Jordan Banks, of Norman, and Andrew Banks, of Norman; two great-grandchildren, Sarah and Benjamin Banks, of Tulsa; brother, Tom and wife, Kathryn Banks, of Fort Smith, Ark.; brothers-in-law, James and wife, Margie Rogers, of McAlester, and Charles and wife, Mary Rogers of Sulphur; sister-in-law, Alta Long, of McAlester, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his son, Dr. Stephen Lynn Banks; parents, Murray and Marie Banks; brother, Bill Banks, and sister, Mary Jane Duff. Services will be Saturday, Dec. 22, at 2 p.m. at Brumley-Mills Chapel in McAlester officiated by pastors Pete Butler and Charles Higgins. Interment will follow at Crowder Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Brumley-Mills Funeral Home of McAlester. Pallbearers will be his grandchildren. Honorary pallbearers will be Bud Leak, Cleon Auld, Ward Goff, Tom Bell, Larry Cox and Tony Fields.
