She grew up on a farm in New Mexico and knew the virtues of hard work as well as the hardships of the great depression, including the dust storms that blew across the plains and freezing winters in an uninsulated house with cracks patched with newspapers.

She was raised to appreciate a good education and received a teaching degree. She was loved by her students, some of which she stayed in touch with over the phone until the very end.

Lucille came to Seattle with two other school teachers during her summer vacation in 1942. She took a job at Boeing "just to be smart". It was there that she met her future husband, Donald Edge, on the wing of a B-17.

Lucille returned to New Mexico in September, to continue her teaching and Don joined the Navy. She and Don continued their relationship by mail for three years, ending with a proposal by mail from the South Pacific. In April of 1945, Don got a 30 day leave and met Lucille in Seattle and they got married. They only had a few days together before she had to return to her teaching in New Mexico.

After the war they settled in Seattle and bought the house where they raised their two sons and then later helped raise their granddaughter.

Lucille was warm, friendly and kind. She enjoyed chatting with everyone and always had positive things to say about everyone. We will miss her smile and laugh forever.
