—Mrs. Martha Ann Shannon, 84, died Saturday morning, November 7, 1953, at her home in Whiting. Born Mary 22, 1869, in Ludlow, Ky., she had lived in Whiting for the past 30 years. She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Fred Zibell of Holton, Mrs. Marvin Berry of Wichita and Mrs. Walter Cochran of Whiting; four sons, Lt. Col. J. V. Shannon of Kansas City, Walter Shannon of Hollywood, Calif., John Shannon of Guymon, Okla., and Lee Shannon of Redland, Calif.; 22 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and two sisters, Mrs. M. D. Moore of Olathe and Mrs. Lucy Adams of Cincinnati, O. Max Shannon and Joel Shannon of Hiawatha are nephew and brother-in-law, respectively. Funeral services were conducted in the Methodist church in Whiting at 2 p.m. Monday with burial in the Hiawatha cemetery.
