Bill Shepherd, 65, Ripley died 1970 in Tippah County Hospital, after suffering a heart attack. at his home. He had been ill recently and the hospital for several weeks, but was improving. Services were held in McBride Funeral Home Chapel Tuesday at 2 pm with burial in Antioch Cemetery. He was a native of Ripley, son of the late Thomas C. and Cora Jobe Shepherd, a descendent of two pioneer Tippah County families. He graduated from Ripley High School in 1922, attended MS State University for one session, and then took a Linotype Operator Course in New Orleans, LA and since then had been employed by the Sentinel for about 50 years. longer than any other one person throughout the history of the Sentinel. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church. Survivors include his mother,k Cora Shepherd. Ripley; two brothers, T.C. Shepherd, Jackson, TN and Jim Shepherd, Portsmouth, VA; two sisters, Lucille Tomlinson, Holly Springs and Pauline Ray, Geneva, AL.
